Bio: Jo Travis is a Melbourne based stencil artist, painting under the pseudonym of N2O since 2016. She creates distinctive and intricate hand-cut stencils. Her street works are often site-specific and playfully interact with the built environment, creating a moment of surprise, delight and wonder in an urban setting.

Exploring ideas of childhood and memory, N2O creates works that evoke nostalgia and encourage reflection.  Her work aims to remind us of a time when we did things for the pure joy of it and to inspire our adult selves to again embrace this ideal. N2O’s works explore how childhood shapes us and how play connects us.

Artist Statement: A(li)CE of Diamonds. When asked to paint a playing card it had to have an Alice theme.

Alice’s and her boundless curiosity has long been a source of inspiration for me. In this piece her curiosity has led her down the rabbit hole where she has fallen into the Ace of Diamonds. What wonderful characters and creatures will she find in the Dealers Choice Deck? What adventures await her? or is the deck stacked against her? Let’s hope that she’s able to keep her head.
