Lucas Geor – Seven of Diamonds

By: Lucas Geor

Medium: acrylic and marker

Bio: Lucas Geor is an Australian based artist, currently working out of Blender Studios in Melbourne.
Geor’s practice sees him intertwining cartoons, with traditional painting practices, creating a wonderful juxtaposition between fine art and illustration. “Abstract cartoon realism” is the term Lucas has coined to define the genre of his works, which references the amalgamation of obscure, cartoon and abstract backgrounds, pop culture references and pseudo realistic, painted figures. Geor is inspired by artists spanning many movements and genres, from Dutch still lifes to the cartoon landscape backdrops of Looney Tunes and The Simpsons as well as commercial trades such as sign painting and advertising. These inspirations are explored and built on, in the artists work as he seeks to to interwine these practices in order to create a bridge between fiction and reality.
