Artist: Dave Court
Title: Behind the Facade (Static)
Bio: Dave Court is a multi-disciplinary artist living on Kaurna country in Adelaide, Australia working in areas of painting, sculpture and installation.
Current work includes large-scale public artwork, cross media work and the creation of interactive and immersive events and installations, all with a focus on collaborative and experimental processes.
Dave has experience with a range of different projects across retail, fashion, publishing, installation and festival design. Dave is heavily involved with public art, as well as art direction and curation alongside his ongoing studio practice. His process driven style looks at experimentation with gesture, abstraction, and oscillation between digital and physical representations.
Artwork Statement: This work was originally created as an animated projection artwork, from a combination of 3D sculpted objects, gestural drawings done in Virtual Reality and open source 3D models. This artwork is thinking about experimentations with dimensionality and time – through the media used, 2D artwork vs 3D digital sculpture, an image that is instantly absorbed or taken in over a period of time; and also through the content of the imagery, Greek and Roman statues are pumped along a factory assembly line in a fantastical Rube Goldberg machine of deceptively complex pipes, conveyor belts, contraptions and devices.
