Cax One – Ten of Clubs

By: Cax One

Medium: acrylics.

Bio: Born out of the graffiti subculture, Cax One is an artist, illustrator, designer, and typographer from Ballarat. After perfecting his style through a now infamous illegal graffiti career, as well as studying at Swinburne and Federation University, he’s gone on to produce an acclaimed collection of works, both in personal and professional arenas. He has been recognised and/or commissioned by individuals, bands, and businesses at both a local and national level, as well as being featured in TV appearances, print and online media, street art books, magazines and publications.

Artist Statement: “In my eyes, she’s a 10”. It’s a subconscious response to a weird fat shaming comment I read on the internet. The comment brought up a lot of old anger about being bullied when I was young for not having the same vanilla beauty ideals of a few vocal peers. This piece is a reminder to myself that beauty in reality comes down to personal taste, not what some attention seeking dick head says on the internet, or anywhere else says. It’s all in the eye (or 10 eyes) of the beholder.
