Bio: Aurora Crombie is an artist living and working in Naarm / Melbourne, Australia. Aurora’s work explores the paralleled attributes humans and nature have in seasons of decline, recovery, and renewal. Predominately using Gouache, Aurora creates colourful, detailed, nostalgic paintings that aim to encourage the viewer’s childlike curiosity in flora and fauna. Other mediums explored include clay, acrylic paint, pen and ink.

Artist Statement: Aurora’s work explores the paralleled attributes humans and nature have in seasons of decline, recovery, and renewal. Aurora loosely masks her work to relinquish control, in effort to approach the work more organically. The combination of detailed line work and loose masking aims to reflect the layered, busy and unpredictable nature of the forest environment. Silver leaf has been used, on top of the initial ink and paper foundation, to draw focus to the fleeting movement of light capturing leaves on the wind, a visual metaphor of change in an environment that is otherwise chaotic and all consuming.
