Christian Vine (VEINS) is a Melbourne based artist, currently working out of the iconic Everfresh studio in Collingwood. Since studying Fine art at RMIT, VEINS creative practice has continually evolved to include a variety of work from large-scale murals to gallery set paintings and drawings. His unique style is recognised for it’s colorful and bright atmosphere, mixed with symbolism and detail. Rich amounts of saturated shapes are abstracted, minimised, and overlaid to form new, dynamic compositions of vibrant landscapes and dreamlike worlds. His formal training can be seen in the use of various techniques like expressionistic arrangement, en plein air blocked backgrounds, figure studied forms, design and traditional illustration attentively come together to showcase meticulous concepts.
Drawing from the natural environment, Vein’s love for the mesmerizing beauty of Australian landscapes and flora often takes center stage in his site-specific murals. Against the urban backdrop, VEINS’ large scale murals project serene landscapes illuminated with golden hues, prompting viewers to appreciate and preserve beauty as it exists in our environment. VEINS’ artworks interweave human forms with their natural surroundings, conjoining our relationship with nature and the vast emotional states the mind can enter; creating a contemplative feeling and experience that only an image could capture.
