Form, function, flora and fauna. This project celebrates a fusion of functional practicality and environmental activism, two things that we as an agency value, and were proud to work on delivering. Providing an insight into the Hume City Council’s lush natural surroundings and environmental conservation objectives, these murals are part of an ongoing project to expand and diversify the Water Tank Mural Trail. The first of these two tanks were designed to recognise the region’s local flora and fauna, while celebrating the vital role these CPA water tanks play in the community.
After researching the endemic plants and animals in consultation with the local Clarkfield community, Alex Sugar made his large-scale frog and turtle images come to life, painting his signature style of vibrant hyper realism directly onto the water tanks.
David Lee Pereira transformed an additional water tank in Mickleham. Featuring local flora; a native sun orchid / Thelymitra orchid wraps around the entire tank. David’s mural, with a mantis casually perched in the flower’s stem, adds another vibrant surprise to the Water Tank Mural Trail.
Just Another Agency worked in partnership with Hume City Council, Landcare, CPA and local residents and stakeholders throughout the design process to collate references and create finished designs that represent the area, before Alex and David took on the tools to transform the functional tanks into flourishing works of art.
