Infinite Thanks Workshop
What are you thankful for? Who are you thankful to?
Celebrate LGBTQI saints and icons, and give thanks to your rainbow heroes in Kaff-eine’s new project Infinite Thanks, which opens at Can’t Do Tomorrow next month!
Infinite Thanks is an immersive, collaborative experience: an art exhibition in a purpose-built chapel, where you can share your own story dedicated to your LGBTQI heroes, and express your gratitude for all to see. Kaff-eine has painted a collection of small ‘ex voto’ paintings dedicated to rainbow saints, which hang inside the chapel. She also painted the entire chapel with larger-than-life LGBTQI characters.
Now it’s your turn to add your own stories! Kaff-eine invites all adults who identify as LGBTQI and allies to make and install their own small paintings, trinkets and messages on the walls of the chapel. Kaff also invites you to ‘tattoo’ her large painted characters with drawings, messages and designs of gratitude during the Festival.
Register for Kaff’s free, casual Infinite Thanks workshops before the Festival opens, where you’ll create your own small painting or message to your LGBTQI hero or saint (no art experience needed); or make yours at home, and bring it to the Festival.
Do you have personal stories of woe quelled by divine intervention, or of joy due to the heavenly presence of your rainbow saint? Did you escape a vehicle accident at Pride? Are you thankful to the queer CFA firefighters for saving our land and wildlife? Did you survive being beaten outside the club? Do you want to celebrate your queer love and friendships? Whatever your rainbow story, exhibit it in the Infinite Thanks chapel.
The chapel and stories combined will offer viewers a unique, creative insight into the daily private lives of LGBTQI folks; a charming, outrageous, confronting, uplifting celebration of rainbow character and resilience, and a public offering to rainbow saints, gods and divine creations.
Following the Festival, Kaff-eine hopes to travel Infinite Thanks interstate, and through regional and outback Australia, so that rainbow folks across the country can see and share their own stories of thankfulness.
