The Street Art Studio transformed a vacant retail tenancy at Bayside Shopping Centre into a temporary street art destination as part of the Frankston Street Art Festival and South Side Festival. Blurring the line between street and studio, the space brought together large-scale murals by nine Australian artists, original artworks and public programming within an immersive gallery environment.
Designed to provide audiences with a rare behind-the-scenes view of contemporary street art practice, the Studio invited visitors into the creative process while celebrating the diversity of styles, techniques and voices shaping Australia’s street art landscape. Embedded within each mural were original A2 artworks that were released through an online auction, creating a direct pathway for audiences to collect unique works produced as part of the project.
Operating throughout the festival period, the Street Art Studio reimagined an empty retail space as a vibrant cultural destination, connecting artists, audiences and collectors through a shared experience of contemporary street art.
