Bio: Sarah McCloskey is a Sydney-based artist specialising in creating engaging, primarily figurative artworks across a number of mediums.
Combining striking portraits with carefully selected visual motifs, Sarah’s work explores themes of identity, place and connec- tion. Site-specific references to botany and local flora play an important role in Sarah’s work; harnessing their unique ability to both evoke personal connection and nostalgia as well as reflect the timeless history of a place. While some works will draw on a specific narrative, the line between real and imagined is often deliberately blurred allowing each viewer to craft their own individual interpretation.
Over the past decade, Sarah has taken the skills developed in her studio illustration & painting to a larger scale through creating numerous public murals, but her focus on people and stories has remained at the centre.
Sarah works from a private studio in Marrickville, Sydney, and her public works can be seen across Australia and internationally.
