Robyn Grove – Peaceful Resistance

$375.00

By: Robyn Grove

Medium: Acrylic and ink on matchbooks and paper, framed

Robyn is a contemporary figurative artist with a passion for realism, and based in Melbourne. Fascinated by human anatomy and the psyche, her portraits and vanitas or memento mori still life artworks contemplate life, death and the spaces between. Robyn’s studio work is usually oil paintings on wood panels, canvases or hand-made paper. Her street murals are painted with acrylic house paint on render and brickwork. These surfaces impart a unique character to her artworks as she often uses the features of the substrates – wood grain, paper pulp, the texture below – as visual elements.

Artist’s Statement: “In the bleakest of times, the offering of flowers signifies peace, hope and the desire to rise above despair and devastation. From the bushfires to COVID-19, 2020 has been a year of constant struggle for Australians. Yet, it’s a time when many embrace optimism for a future world that surpasses this rupture in our lives. Flowers are the perfect symbolic catalyst for this resistance and positive change.”
